James Maddison|Arsenal have sent a ‘player plus cash’ offer to Leicester City
The Gunners are interested in the midfielder this season, with Maddison at the top of their short-list.
Arsenal is believed to have made an approach for Leicester City midfielder James Maddison as their interest in the player grows.
According to football.london, Arsenal have made a ‘player plus cash deal’ for the player in a bid to persuade City to sell this summer.
Arsenal has shown interest in Maddison in recent weeks as they look for a creative midfielder to replace Martin Odegaard, who has returned to Real Madrid.
Leicester might break their five-year streak of selling a major player this summer, and are expected to seek a large fee of over £60 million for Maddison.
Arsenal, who have already spent £50 million on defender Ben White this summer, may find this a major problem.
According to football.london, Arsenal has now enquired about the potential of putting a player in the offer to Leicester in order to reduce the price.
Although Joe Willock, Reiss Nelson, Eddie Nketiah, and Ainsley Maitland-Niles are reported to be available for transfer this summer, it is unknown who the players offered to City in the proposal are.
Brendan Rodgers has taken a clear position when it comes to the prospect of selling players this summer.
“The players want to stay. It’s a really exciting time at the club.
“There’s lots of gossip and speculation around but I’m loving working with the guys here, they love being here, and we certainly have no need to sell. So I would suspect we’re looking to keep our best players.”
