Mancini’s Italy will play Spain in a bid to continue their unbeaten run
Italy is preparing for the Nations League semi-final, but manager Roberto Mancini has cautioned that it will not be as easy as Euro 2020.
Despite Italy’s success at Euro 2020, Roberto Mancini stated that winning the nations League remains a difficult job.
Italy, which failed to qualify for the 2018 World Cup, began a transformation under Mancini, culminating in their first European Championship victory since 1968 when they won Euro 2020.
Of they prepare for their Nations League semi-final against Spain on Wednesday, the Azzurri are on a 37-game undefeated run, headed by veteran warriors such as Giorgio Chiellini and Leonardo Bonucci.
Indeed, the team needed penalties to beat Spain in the Euro 2020 semi-finals, and the 56-year-old expects a similar challenge against Luis Enrique’s side at San Siro.
“During Euro 2020, Spain was the side with which we had the most difficulty. Mancini told UEFA’s official website, “They are a solid squad with good players.”
“It’ll be a great match.” They are exceptional at [passing the ball on the ground]. We didn’t have the time to get to their level of mastery. This time will be different.
