Former Stoke City and Barcelona striker Bojan Krkic has signed with Vissel Kobe
Since departing the Montreal Impact of Major League Soccer at the conclusion of 2020, Bojan has been without a team.
After starting his career at Barcelona, Bojan, 30, played for Stoke between 2014 and 2019.
“This is one of the best opportunities I’ve ever had, both personally and professionally, and I’m really looking forward to this tremendous task,” Bojan added.
Vissel Kobe sits third in Japan’s J1 League, with ex-Barcelona midfielder Andres Iniesta, 37, and ex-Arsenal defender Thomas Vermaelen, 35, among their ranks.
“I have been attracted to Japanese culture for a long time, and due to Vissel Kobe, I can see Japan for myself,”
He said. “Iniesta is precious to me, and I am pleased to be able to play with him again.”
Krkic has previously played for Roma, AC Milan, and Ajax, made his La Liga debut in 2007 at the age of 17 and went on to help Barcelona win the Spanish title three times and the Champions League twice.
He also made one international appearance for Spain and scored 16 goals in 86 games, including 14 Premier League goals, during his five-year stay at the club.
