Atlético Madrid’s Under-19s will be coached by Fernando Torres
Torres has spent the last several months practicing in various junior divisions and now assumes command of a potential young team.
Fernando Torres is continuing to advance in his coaching career, and he will have a fantastic opportunity next season. According to AS, the 37-year-old will be in command of Atlético Madrid’s Under-19 side. After working with many different young categories at the club, the Rojiblanco icon has spent the last few months preparing to take the next step forward.
El Nio, who retired from playing in June 2019 while playing for Sagan Tosu in Japan, joined Atleti’s junior programme in January to pursue his coaching career. Torres worked with the reserves with Nacho Fernández to learn about and acquire expertise with various training methods. He returned to the job after a brief absence due to personal circumstances and resumed working with the Under-19s, who won the league title by defeating Real Madrid at the end of the season.
Torres will be in charge of Atleti’s future stars.
Now is the time for him to take command of a team that is overflowing with talent. Who better than an Atlético Madrid idol and role model to follow to aid them with their own education than the players coming through?
Torres claimed in September 2020 that he intended to return to his hometown club, Atlético Madrid, on the condition that he could assist the team. He stated that he would require some time to ensure that he was adequately equipped to take on the task. Torres follows in the footsteps of managers such as Luis Aragonés, Simeone, Del Bosque, Rafa Benitez, and Jose Mourinho, who were crucial in his development and career.
